There are many more risks to this set up (or any other setup that allows remote access from the internet to a server) than the ability of someone to obtain the password to the users ZoneEdit account. If you are connecting a computer to the internet its your job to know the risks.

The disclaimer, "it is your responsibility to provide for the security..." is a cop-out.

Since the author is saying to add ddclient (or the like) it is the author's moral responsibility to explain the security implications of running this.

It is irresponsible, for example, to suggest creating a ddclient.conf file containing a password in the clear without ALSO warning that the same file must be readable by no user other than the user running ddclient (typically root).

QUESTION: It seems there are "newer" and "older" editions of the ultrabase. How can I learn which I have thru lshw, lspci, lsmod etc?

WinXP/Pro Tablet works!!
Ubuntu fails in various ways!!

I find several attempts to make dock and undock of the Ultrabay and dock and undock of Ultrabay drives useful. All are very arcane doing echo value into /proc/somewhere and similar.

WinXP/Pro Tablet works!!

** stop DVD
** remove DVD module
** insert HDD module
** use HDD drive

... repeat ad nauseum

I had the exact same problems with WPA under 8.10 until a recent update to the Broadcom drivers... Use the WUBI installer and give 8.10 another shot!

(Also, I personally dislike lid-close auto-suspend of any type, so disabling it is a simple workaround to the other problem IMO.)
